Day 10, lunch stop.

We have now returned to summer. In fact, for us Scandinavian types we’ve got to summer+, since our summer never got up to these temperatures.  (31C just now but warmer later in the day.) Previously we tried to be in the sun but this change means that we now look for shade to both sit in and to park ’Arry the camper van in!
We made good time today and covered a lot of kilometres on mostly very good roads. Now we’re well south of Bordeaux and not so far from the Spanish border.
We also made a classic mistake concerning Sunday in France. We assumed that the big supermarkets and shops like Lidl would be open all day, and therefore were a bit shocked when we stopped to buy our daily supplies around 2 o’clock and found everything was closed!!! I remember when it was pretty much like this in Britain and Sweden and we managed okay. I’m not at all sure it’s better to have virtually all shops open every day. But it was still a bit strange to be confronted by locked doors in a giant hyper market!
Finally, a big thank you for all the hearts, stars, and lovely comments on my 10 year blipversary yesterday. I’ll be replying and commenting back but it may take a while to get back to all of you.
