Protecting the nest

At least that is what I think was behind the behaviour of this male chaffinch. It flew out of the trees beside the pipeline, and landed on the balustrade of the protective fence by the pipe. Where it remained, enabling me to get a number of photos. When I continued onwards, it flew back into the trees. Somewhere in there is almost certainly a nest.

Later in my walk I watched a Kotare (kingfisher) fly away as I focussed my camera. Whether it was the same one or another, quite soon after the first I saw this kotare on a power line. The light and shadows resulted in it looking as if the kotare was in a spotlight. See the extra.
