Basel to Paris (just)

This morning, we were up early, and I've made my blip the Spalentor, a 15th century gateway to Basel, which I photographed from our hotel's breakfast room.
We then visited the nearby Botanical Garden which had some fine plant specimens in the glass houses, (including  a five foot  tall Kohleria plant in flower- note for Tony G!) although most of the plants not under cover had finished flowering. Then we strolled onto the Kunstmuseum and had a good look at the paintings within. There were a lot of interesting works by Picasso, Hans Holbein, and Klee and a number of Impressionist paintings too.
Then we went to catch our train to Strasbourg, and discovered it had been cancelled ( due to engineering works, we think)and we had to take the (dreaded)  replacement bus to St Louis, just over the border into  France. Here we were able to get a train to Strasbourg but we missed our onward connection to Paris. Fortunately  SNCF managed to find us seats on the TGV service two hours later, and so we are now in  Paris. Phew!
