Ropery by Night

There is something quite magical about the Ropery at night. Surrounded by the ropemaking machines, the scent of the hemp, linseed and other materials lingering in the air and the distant sound of the film crew outside, I can feel the history of the building and all the people who’ve worked within its walls over the past 230 years.

The film set looked great tonight. The cobbled streets dressed as 1888 in Whitechapel. A bit spooky with prop rats lying around.

Much excitement among the crew when the coffee van arrived at 00:30. I was presented with a ‘dirty chai latte’ which had a double shot of espresso. It was warming and smelt like Christmas though a little sweet for my usual tastes.

We wrapped at 4am, in bed by 615am. Ready for a big snooze.
