Flying

3years 232days

We went out with a friend for the day today. We did some shopping, had a quick lunch, bought a couple of things blar blar blar.... the real excitement of the day though.... we went indoor skydiving!!! (Flying if you ask katie!) I havent jumped in approx 8 years, so when I learnt we were going out to near a wind tunnel, I really really really had to do it. And discovered I could take Katie in too. She watched the videos, studied the photos yesterday and decided she wanted to fly too. She was SO excited. Not quite as much so as mama!

We got kitted up, and as I stood there, I thought I saw a familiar face. Turned out, there with his son and a couple of other skydivers was the guy who trained me 13 years ago. He's a world champion. No pressure or anything!! I went first, got my bearings after so long out of the sky. Katie wasnt keen on me being in there initially but soon settled. When it was her turn, they dropped the fans a lot, we took her in and once she was in my arms, with the instructor too (having proved to the instructor I was able to stand stable in the tunnel!) she relaxed and got herself into a really fab natural freefall position! Very impressed with her. She watched all the others, fascinated, and then I got a double slot and was allowed to play. I saw my instructor friend grinning across at me as I flew, and had my stupid-big-skydiving grin plastered on my face the whole time. Katie was waving at me that session too. She was extremely proud of her certificate. And keeps telling me that she must have been the best because she was the only one to get a happy face on her certificate! Only disappointment is that because there were two of us with Katie, they didnt manage a picture of her flying, and neither did my friend. So her waiting and her with the certificate is all we can give you.

She had a fab play time in the mall's playcentre before we got her some tea and headed home. We broke the journey with a trip to ikea, where she ate a second tea before setting off at bedtime ish. She fell asleep literally 3 minutes from home, but she's a bit hyper now.
