Common Spotted Orchid

The permissive path through Mottey Meadows National Nature Reserve was opened to the public at the beginning of June. This site, an SSSI, is an ancient hay meadow, renowned for its wild flowers.

I popped up to the site to check how the wild flowers were going after such a late spring. The warm weather had obviously brought things on and it was also a pleasure to see curlew, with their familiar call, flying overhead. I want to return later in the year and also earlier in the day, but captured this image of a common spotted orchid while in site.
