Lone Tree near Alnmouth

Today was the last full day of our hiking trip, and the gentlest one too as we only had to walk 8 miles from Craster to Alnmouth. The coastal scenery was beautiful again, enhanced by some fab cloud formations (which thankfully only produced minimal rain showers). I particularly liked this lone tree as we approached Alnwick.

The extra shows a sign which we saw on the wall of a pub as we passed through the village of Boulmer. (We'd hoped to get a bite of lunch there but it was closed on Mondays so we had to make do with some of our "emergency rations" - but that was OK as they needed eating up anyway.)

In case you're not fully familiar with the Geordie/Northumberland dialect it translates as follows:

"Dear Hiker. If you have been walking through mud from Craster or Dancing in the Sand from Alnmouth please clean the sand or mud off your boots as this saves my Grandmother a job after her shift down the mine"
