SA Day Ten
Well done the the Scotland rugby team! I had really wanted to see the game but we wanted to go down to dinner. We were in the groovy pub with loud music videos on the two televisions. I mentioned to the waitress that I was missing the game and she switched over to the rugby!! We then went to dinner after the game, everybody happy! The food was lovely (kingklip again).
A beautiful calm sunny morning! (Extra) Today, we didn’t go far, just along the road to Plettenburg Bay. This trip, all of half an hour (!) delivered us embarrassingly early at the next hotel, The Old Rectory (the most historic building in town). We couldn’t check in, of course, so we went for a walk down to the beach.
Then we went to check out the town. It’s a holiday weekend, so most of the shops were shut, but we were pleasantly surprised by the ones we did enter - really nice clothes and kitchenware shops. And we found the best wee unassuming cafe, with a wonderfully extensive, quite sophisticated menu - we had a delicious lunch. A starter of roasted artichoke hearts (10!) and sun dried tomatoes - (you’d pay a fortune for a much smaller serving of this in the UK, and anyway, it would never be on the menu in a wee run-of-the-mill cafe) and we shared a pizza with a delicious thin crispy base. We’re constantly impressed with the standard of food! (And the prices…)
Back to our wonderful room, raining again. There’s bad weather all along the Eastern Cape. I don’t think we’ll be watching any whales and babies… the sea’s pretty rough. No boats were out today.
