Woman Life Freedom, Regent Street, London

My last back blip but such an important one. It's been a year since Masha Amini died at the hands of the morality police in Iran, allegedly for not wearing her hijab correctly. It sparked nationwide protests but instead of listening to their own population and the anger at her death the Iranian authorities doubled down and killed many more of their own citizens, including those in this image I took of a protest on Regent Street.
Now, to make everything even worse, the Iranian legislature want to bring in a law that women who refuse to wear the Islamic headscarf in public could face ten years in prison. It's so desolatingly depressing that it makes you want to weep. I will end my blip with what a UN human rights expert said " the bill could be described as a form of gender apartheid, as authorities appear to be governing with the intention of suppressing woman and girls into total submission".
The protesters were so unbelievably brave and deserve our full support.
