On the Field Again
Brooklyn’s first game of the season was in Rockville, two hours from home. We were up and on the road before 9:00. I would rather have a tooth pulled without drugs than ride on the beltway but we had to today. People drive like maniacs, speeding across lanes without signaling, cutting folks off, etc. We ran into road construction that definitely delayed our travels. Then it started to rain so everyone needed to slow down. The referee was late getting to the field so the game hadn’t started when we got there. The rain also stopped before the girls started to play. Brooklyn gave up one goal in the first half but her team scored two. She played offense in the second half. We love watching her take the ball down the field. The final score was 3-2, B’s team won. Hubby and I get restaurant gift cards as credit card rewards (free money). He was choosing those for two of our favorite TexMex chain restaurants. The ones we frequented most often both closed permanently, leaving us with a lot of unused cards. We found a Chili’s on our route home in northern Virginia. Our salads were delicious and very filling. We only need six more visits to use up the cards…. We stopped at Kim’s to admire Mancil’s deck preservative job. It was definitely nap time to let my BP would get back to normal after that trip. The Washington DC beltway is rated one of the worst highways in our country and I can attest to this truth. Be safe folks. Hope your day was much less unnerving. Thanks for visiting my journal. “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing.” – Pelé
