A Trying Day

A very long day spent trying to get to Milan. We succeeded eventually but it took a long time. After a six am departure we arrived at Schiphol on time. Then after a long queue to get into the Schengen area we did not have much time to get to the gate for our onward connection. Checking to see which gate we should be heading to we were disappointed to find the flight hyphae been cancelled due to a “technical” issue with the aircraft.

Instead of a morning departure we were booked on to a flight leaving at five pm. We decided to use some air miles to check into the lounge. The next six hours were spent snacking and looking at the views of Amsterdam.

We eventually got to our hotel at about nine pm. We immediately headed out to find somewhere to eat. It turned out we are staying in an area where restaurants and bars close very late, so this turned out not to be a problem. A quick meal and then to bed, a long day that started at three am.

We had been booked on a sunset cruise on the Milan canals. We missed the departure for the cruise by about four hours.
