A moving day

Angie set off with Rosie in the trailer & collected Kathi & her Magic from her stables as she is moving to a new one. Sad start to the day but not because of the move and particularly so for me as a Brit. Enough of that, lesson learnt and everything that followed was great:

Angie accompanied Kathi as they both took part in a course taking place at the stables. They split in to two, three horse groups and as Magic & Rosie were in different groups I couldn't Blip them together. Lighting conditions in the indoor arena with the lower part dark & then large windows make it difficult (for a photo novice as I am).

After a walk with the dogs which included Luna diving in the deep part of a swollen river and going completely under and apparently enjoying it as she did it twice more, we drove over at the lunch break. Kathi & Magic were splendid, Rosie hasn't been on a course for at least 12 years and due to her still unidentified illness, we were intrigued how she would go. Well she was better than we could have wished. Canter and gallop work is still difficult but the rest was great.

Perhaps it also helped horse & rider to be in a very relaxed and professional atmosphere and we were heartily greeted by the other riders and owners who came by. There are about 30 livery horses, a qualified trainer, indoor & outdoor arenas as well as fields. Although the well being of the horse and rider are the main criteria, itb has to be affordable and here the cost/facility/care is excellent. After the course there was a big BBQ with owners, families & friends (& several dogs hoping for some meat to fall off plates).

Luna & Flash behaved impeccably and could roam freely. Flash though spent all the time right on the edge of the arena making sure his Rosie was OK. Luna was fascinated by some rabbits in a pen on the grass with a cat sitting on top. The cat didn't interest her but she quickly ran away when the rabbits stamped with their feet and found a shady place under the car.

Good to know Kathi & especially Magic are in good hands and no doubt it won't be our last visit.

So ended a good day with several good Blip-a-tunities but I didn't want to do another collage and settled for the rather blurred one of Rosie & Angie. Thunderstorms tonight to end a run of several beautiful warm sunny days which will return Tuesday. Slight downside is the dramatic events still going on in Northern & Eastern Germany connected with the flooding. We wish all those hit by hardship, the rescue services and especially the thousands of voluntary helpers, especially the many young, all the very best.
