an orange tipped wood digger bee

who knew? well obviously SEEK but 
i certainly had no idea I would find so many different bees in my yard. I think this years plantings of salvia and the resurgence of the russian sage and bluebeard helps. they love the lobelia and veronica too. my only disappointment this year was not having the european wool carder bee from last summer show up. though it seemed to prefer the betony and the cucumber beetles and snails did a number on that this year.
