Chapel Stile
An early and chilly (8°C) start. It was 8.30 when I started walking from Elterwater. No parking problems at that time :) Through Baysbrown Farm and along to Oak Howe. Then back to Chapel Stile, across the beck and along to the car. About 4 miles.
There’s a photo in extras looking to the Langdale Pikes and a collage with some shots from the first part of the walk.
It was a sunny 16°C when I arrived back home.
Yesterday’s blip showing the old Kendal Bank sign received this interesting and informative reply from blipper ‘ayearinthelife’.
I used to work there. Kendal Bank was formed by the merger of Maude, Wilson & Crewdson and Wakefield’s Bank - all well known Kendal names. The bank issued its own banknotes because it was too dangerous to bring them up from London in those days. I remember seeing some in a box in the main safe - fascinating to look at.
