remembering 9/11/2001

That morning is imprinted on my brain. At 2 am I had just arrived home to Colorado from my father's funeral on the East Coast. At 7:30 am I got a phone call to turn on the TV to see the news. I was numb.

Of course the details and the scale of the tragedy took months to unfold. But during that time I remember a beautiful solidarity and a national crying out to God.

I'm sad that it takes such a horrendous event to capture our attention to love our neighbor. And also very sad that the love has dissipated so soon.
