Yellow
We have had the wettest day, rain all day! Now it really does feel like Winter! we went for a drive into the hills nevertheless.
We had lunch in the "merchant tea house" Kalamunda, not a lot of yellow there unless i blipped a lemon tree! we drove on to Mundaring Weir Dam in the middle of the bush, there is just enough Wattle left on the bush to take a semi decent blip for the topic today "Yellow"
Why Wattle you ask?
Wattle is Australia's National Emblem, the best known and loved of all our native flora. "National Wattle Day" is celebrated on the 1st of September each year (our 1st day of Spring) it was originally conceived as a day to demonstrate patriotism for the new nation of Australia by wearing a sprig of Wattle. The day however now has
A wider significance as a day to celebrate our national environment, our flora, our rain forests and bush land, our coastal heathlands and desert dunes. The sprig of Wattle should encourage us to to preserve our fragile environment, so that future generations will experience the joy of seeing our bushland light up each Spring with Golden Bloom.
