Interesting?

This may be interesting to some of you blippers? to cover DDW's challenge "Interesting"
I don't think I need introduce him? King Neptune was a statue that was part of the Atlantis Marine Park built on 20,000 acres of land he was part of the Sun City Plan, Alan Bond (you remember him? The high flyer of Perth, who helped win the Americas Cup "Boxing Day" Yacht Race) he purchased the Land in Yanchep with a plan to build a large resort and residential area due to Perth's rapid expansion, he could foresee the tourism industry taking off in 1981.
The Marine Park was constructed in 1991 and it was a great tourism attraction in those days, we had been in Perth since 1982 and had never seen anything like it! 6 months before the park was opened six bottlenose dolphins were caught locally and were trained to perform for the next ten years.
In 1988 there were changes to regulations of enclosures for all Marine animals in captivity, they were ordered to construct bigger pens so this coupled by the park gradually losing money and on the decline, by 1990 they had to close the Park.
The Dolphins, six born wild and three captive born juveniles were given to Marine biologists in 1991 then began their rehabilitation back to the wild, they were in sea pens for two years at two rocks Marina, eventually six swam free but three had to be recaptured As they were losing weight and they couldn't adapt, they were eventually relocated to the Aquarium Of Western Austria.
I remember all this causing a huge rumpus with the public and conservationists, also people's views were changing towards wild creatures of any kind being in captivity! I can raise my hand on that one!
So all that remains to this day is 20,000 acres of overgrown scrub and bush and King Neptune as he sits alone with his trident poised staring out to the ocean, perhaps this is a warning for future developers to the impact caused in trying to tame something that quite clearly has the right to remain free!
