Out and about on the Moray Firth

It was a very hot day, 26 degrees C in the afternoon, so we were keeping in the shade as much as we could, for ourselves as much as Bertie. We visited Beauly for old times sake, a lovely small town which we visited often when my late cousin lived there. From Beauly we headed to Chanonry Point on The Black Isle, hoping to spot dolphins on the incoming tide. Unfortunately, many other folk had the same idea and there was no space for us to park as most of the parking had a height restriction to deter motorhomes. We retreated to Munlochy Woods to find the Clootie Well (not to be confused with a clootie dumpling) where, for centuries, people have hung small bits of cloth on branches of trees around the small well. The belief is that as the cloot or cloth rots away the illness fades also. I think the lovely walk through the woods of towering conifers and the encounter with this spider in his web probably did us more good.
