Sunset over Loch Linnhe

We had an enjoyable journey south-westwards from Grantown on Spey where we had camped for the night. It’s a while since we have done this journey past the Cairngorms, bringing back many happy memories of skiing, hill walking and various outdoor pursuits with school pupils before I met N and he dragged me south.more than thirty years ago. We headed towards Onich where we were going to spend the last night of our holiday and we were delighted to find that we had been allocated a pitch on the side of Loch Linnhe with an uninterrupted view across the loch. In the evening we spent half an hour watching the ever-changing sky as the sun sank into the V between the hills. It was a beautiful scene and quite poignant as we thought about the huge changes facing our country with a new Prime Minister earlier in the week and a new monarch resulting from the death of Queen Elizabeth. I had a sense of being at a pivotal time in history
