Cufflinks and a synthesiser

One of the advantages of daily blogging is that you reach a point where you can quickly identify what you want to talk about or say, conjure up a structure/narrative, and get writing.

So, preparing the opening and closing remarks for tonight's award ceremony - less than a thousand words in total - was easy enough once I'd decided what I wanted to talk about.

I sent it across to the Headteacher for approval, and she reminded me that I needed to do the bit about "In case of a fire alarm..." so I went back to last year's speech to remind myself where the exits at the church are located.

I'd forgotten that last year I had to write a speech that would take account of the possibility of the Queen's demise during the ceremony (which is, indeed, what happened).

Anyway, everything went well, this evening, we went to the pub afterwards for a couple of beers and some pizza, and then I went back home to a little work on the opening track for the next album.

Oh, and earlier in the day, I submitted my piece for Cities and Memory's 'Sleep' project. I was given a (lousy) sample of some birdsong to work with, but I'm cautiously pleased with the result, which you can listen to here:

'Diese kleinen Scheiben'.
