Unicorns

I haven’t heard railway station announcements for Inspector Sands for a while. Passing through Clapham Junction on this morning and the announcement, slowly and clearly delivered, was heard on loop. No word on the incident and our train carried on to Waterloo.

Then a train to Portsmouth with Mark & Rob where we sat in the first carriage of the train. I’d boarded early and decided to go to the front to aid the transition to the ferry, forgetting we were not immediately going to make the crossing. There were only the four of us in that carriage for the majority of the journey.

As we all had the day off and we were travelling early, we allowed time for a trip to Gunwharf Quays. I bought new running shoes for my, as yet, undiscovered running career. We lunched at Pret and caught the 14:20 crossing to Ryde. We spent the first hour or so in the flat, introducing M&R to the delights of grey furniture!

The postponed Isle of Wight Pride is in Ryde this weekend. Eastern Gardens has a stage and other things set up but there are no signs of the unicorns you are not permitted to ride.  We wandered around the site before securing an outdoor table for dinner at The Ryde Castle. Apparently, they had run out of some food and our burgers were disappointing. The pre-pride atmosphere was, however, fun.

We ended the evening at The Star Ale and Coffee House.
