Scarlet!
So, this definitely isn't a great shot - but I wanted to record my first ever photo of a Scarlet Tanager (Piranga olivacea). And, only the second one I have ever seen, even though they are a summer bird in my area. I believe this is also a first for the Blip Big Year which is getting harder and harder to do! Saw this beauty, and his yellow mate, on the Old Mine Road field trip today. Loads of fun and many birds heard as well as seen. Other highlights of the day...
Deer getting ready to enter the Delaware River
Who said deer can't swim? - this was a first for me!
My favorite shot of the day, a worm-eating Black & White Warbler
Eastern Cottontail bunny
A pair of cedar waxwings on the nest!
Hubs and I are off to meet some friends for Thai food tonight and then I am off for an early birding trip in the morning.
It's the weekend!!!
