Life's Little Moments

Meet Tulip

First things first - thank you for your well-wishes and good thoughts for my Mom. She is home and doing well and was planning to go out and get some geo-caches today.

Now, the next order of business is to make an introduction ... meet Tulip, the newest of the Tallyho Squirrels! In the midst of the pouring rain this morning, Sylvia the Squirrel came by to check out the daily specials at the Bistro. As she was enjoying a nosh, I saw her joined by a second, smaller squirrel - one who she was very friendly with. It took a moment before I realized that this must be one of her spring litter. I wonder if maybe Tulip is the only survivor? Well, in any event, little Tulip scampered around investigating the flowers, the suet feeders and just about everything else. She wisely settled in at the suet feeder.

The blue jays weren't particularly impressed with Tulip. The were wet and irritable and really just wanted unfettered access to the suet. For the 7th straight day, there were cedar waxwings in the cherry trees again today - what a joy to see them. And one of the juvenile mourning doves hung out for awhile, seemingly not sure what to do.

I am off for an all-day field trip tomorrow (Audubon event) where I really hope to see some Cerulean Warblers and Northern Parulas. And maybe a bear or two. :) The rain is supposed to stop around 3 in the morning so the trails will be wet but at least the sky will be dry.

And I would be extremely remiss not to say a big Thank You for sending yesterday's damselfly into the Spotlight Page where he stayed all day today. I am glad you got to see him - they are really extraordinarily beautiful damsels with their dramatic colors.

Hoping everyone is headed for a great weekend!
