Camino Day 3

A sunny day but only 22/23 degrees thankfully. Sun provided good shadows! We walked abut 15 miles today, a bit harder than the first two days as more climbing to be done. Paced ourselves well though. Seeing lots more pilgrims today as we walked through woodland, across bridges and through some lovely towns. I’d struggled to find an albergue in the right place on this day so instead of dormitory accommodation I booked a Quinta which is an estate in Portugal. I think it’s a bit like Paradors in Spain, we were delighted when we arrived as we weren’t sure if our hopes were too high. There are some guest cottages next to the “Manor House” and we have one with a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/lounge. The owner showed us round the gardens. The house was built in 1508 and has been in the same family since then. A lovely oasis and such a treat. back to hostels tomorrow!
