ONTO DAMBULA

We were picked up at 8 this morning !!!!
Luckily we were still packed. We hadn’t had a brilliant night probably due to another storm and the flight naps!!!
#Our first stop this morning was the fish market. I cannot begin to tell you the extent of the smell!!! There were fish from sprats to sharks and tuna. Health and safety just didn’t exist!!! There were men in wellies and bare foot walk through goodness knows!! Ice was being scrapped off the floor to pack the fish!!! so glad I wore my new Birkenstocks !!!!
#then along to see them drying the fish. About a football pitch size!! Definitely back breaking work!!
#we then had a trip on Colombo Lagoon
#we stopped several Water Monitors, an egret, an eagle and a pig in the shallows.
#a great opportunity for a crown moment. (Trying to find unusual places if possible!!)
#it was very warm so we were glad of a drink in the shade of the trees.
#afterwards we had a 3 hour drive to our next hotel. Yet again the rain came but it didn’t affect us at all!!
On route our tour guide took us to a spa place in the tropical rainforest…it was lush. Fabulous massage and steam all by the sounds of forest nature. We had just asked for a simple place but this was amazing and a good price. Sooooo chilled.
#HOTEL No 2…Amaya Lake Hotel. On the web it looked odd but they were beautiful villas in forest area…well spread out and very quiet. We unpacked 1 case and had a snooze.
Just time for a quick swim, dinner and
#bed early!!

What a day of variety!
42/60 treats.
