Storks

walking back from the bar yesterday we noticed what must have been hundreds of storks flying over the town. Unfortunately I only had my compact with a wide angle and couldn't get them in focus in the lower light. I was surprised to see them still there this morning but apparently they've been hanging around the area for the past week , presumably resting before flying to North Africa. I also read that they wait for a decent wind and its been unusually calm here recently. Every high point seemed to have a stork sitting on it including one on the church cross. Later some of them seemed to be trying out some flying before they all set off , see extras  .
