Celebration

We were invited to the 60th anniversary celebration of the Mickel Scottish Country Dance Club.  We have been members for some years but did not dance this year since Bob had his hip surgery and can't dance at present.

The Mickel is a summer dance club and is extremely popular, with dancers coming to Clarkston Halls from all over Glasgow and Lanarkshire.  At one time there was a six year waiting list for membership.  Tonight we had ten sets of eight dancers, which is about the maximum the hall can take.  And everyone except Bob dancing......
The two guys on accordians were fantastic, their timing was perfect.  Accordians are such wonderful instruments......

We had cake, and balloons, and wine, and Irene, who ran the club for 37 years until last year, talked to us of the history of the club.  One dancer in the hall was a founder member, amazing.

Debbie, who took over as caller last year, did an amazing job with her band of helpers and we all had a wonderful evening.  I danced quite a lot, and Bob enjoyed chatting and spectating.

As our local country dance class started this morning too, it was a full on day.  Climbing the stairs to bed was difficult!!!!

I was too tired last night to blip, so have done so a day late.  Have added one extra...... which Bob took.
