Matera

D and I are on holiday in Puglia, Italy. We decided to try and see as much as we can over the next 8 days so we’re staying in 3 different locations. The first is Matera, a beautiful town famous for its cave dwellings carved into the mountainside.
We flew into Bari and picked up our hire car ( a Fiat 500 x) and drove an hour to Matera. The hotel is lovely with beautiful views. We walked around the town then found somewhere for dinner. I’m glad I bought a cardi, it’s the windiest place I’ve ever been. We had antipasto and pizzas in a very good restaurant with dubious decor. It was like sitting in an elderly person’s sitting room. Looking forward to investigating further tomorrow.
