Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Wall to wall sunshine! Again.

A busy day! I didn't even have a snooze... Pip arrived at 8.30, but I had already stuck the sheets in the washing machine, and they were hung out nice and early in the glorious sunshine.

I took the boys out for a walk round the Links. Then I tidied up my tee shirt drawer - it's SO tidy now and I can see where everything is. Then I sat out in the sun, listening to my audiobook (actually, starting it again as I can't remember what had happened).

As I sat in the back garden, gazing at the apple trees and noting once again that they were ready for picking, and maybe I should pick them. So I took a sudden urge and filled the washing basket with apples - dozens of 'em. I started to peel and chop, and very soon got fed up doing that. My peeling hand was getting numb. However, I did manage to stew one big pot - I know they can be frozen and used in crumbles etc at a later date. I may or may not have another go tomorrow, as I've hardly made a dent in the washing basket horde.

Abi came back in the afternoon, and wasn't in a rush today (she's self employed and so usually has deadlines she has to meet) and so she came in and we sat in the back garden in the sunshine. G&Ts were the tipple of choice.

Hazel arrived back home on the train from London, and so she popped over for a debrief and to catch some rays. And to have a G&T... a most pleasant afternoon.

JR was not with us - she'd gone to the Gyle Shopping Centre to have an eye test - her optician of choice has shut the shop that was much handier. But getting there on the tram is easy. Chrissy went with her for the jaunt. They were away all day, and eventually sent me a photo on the balcony at Harvey Nick's with a prosecco! The tram stops just beside it, so of course they were tempted on to the balcony such a nice day.

This was the only photo I took today. Archie wanting something (sunglasses, perhaps). The espaliered apple trees, now de-nuded, seen behind.
