Captain George Vancouver
Today was the last day we had with M's daughter, son-in-Law and two granddaughters. They were heading home today and so we met them in King's Lynn for lunch in an Italian restaurant in the grand market place.
M and I just had time for a quick wander down to the waterfront afterwards and I took this classic shot of the statue of Captain Vancouver and the old Customs House.
Captain George Vancouver was born in King's Lynn and between 1791 and 1795 he precisely charted many thousands of miles of the Northwest Pacific coastline from San Diego to Anchorage in Alaska. The City of Vancouver (and several other sites with Vancouver in their title) are all named after him.
The extra is one in my occasional series of ladies loos. The ladies and gents were housed in the same purpose built block and above the dividing wall was a rather interesting arch and roof.
