Camper van and Primal Scream

The idea of having a caravan has never appealed to me, but from time to time, I have wondered if I'd enjoy touring in a camper van. The Minx feels pretty much the same way, and a while ago she suggested we hire one to go to the Connect Festival in Edinburgh, and then go on up to Skye. Perfect!

We took the day off work, today, and were due to pick up the camper at two o'clock, but this was complicated by the fact that a Trust wanted a demo of our software and the Minx wanted to do it rather than delegate or delay it. Hence, she arranged to pick up the camper a little earlier, and hired an office for the demo.

That done, we hit the road! Driving the camper was absolutely fine, and we enjoyed the drive up through Scotland to the showground, north of Edinburgh and just next to the airport. The access road for 'live in accommodation' had been closed off early, requiring some slightly tense manoeuvring off the dual carriageway, but no harm was done and we parked up, as you can see in my Extra.

This is only the second year of the Connect Festival and we opted for it as the line-up was great and, to be honest, we are not as enamoured of Bluedot at we once were.

We were there in time to see Primal Scream, which is not a band that I'm crazy about, but they were as good live as I've been told. I was very impressed by how they have taken a sample heavy track like 'Loaded' and turned it into a cracking live performance, starting, as it did, with just bagpipes and the backing vocalists. Very good.
