horns of wilmington's cow

Sunrise

Indicative of the year moving on with how low in the sky the sun is when I set off for a day in the office.

Badger cartoon in the extra shot, after the survey training session on Sunday. I got the grid references for one main sett, one lesser used sett, and one potentially abandoned, but possibly repopulated sett, in the vicinity here, from the environmental officer of the landowner. Going to keep an eye on those for them to see just how active they are, putting my newly learned 'skills' to good use.

Popped out to the main sett tonight - mainly under gorse, so hard to get a count on the entrances at the moment, but one very newly excavated one on the edge, and all within a couple of yards of a minor road. I watched from a distance for a little while, but I think I need to be later for any sightings, and I need to make sure I won't disturb them. Left a trail cam by one of the badger paths to see what it might pick up, and to start planning around their movements...
