24 Hours

Steve McQueen was definitely what's known as a 'petrol head' and seeing as Mr Sk is one too, it's not surprising that we went to the Le Mans 24 Hours museum this afternoon! We are spending the night in Le Mans before driving the last leg of the journey to catch the ferry tomorrow afternoon in Caen, Normandy.

Actually the museum was very interesting.  In 1970 Steve McQueen's insurance company prevented him from competing in the 24 hour race so he entered a Porsche equipped with cameras to shoot footage in the thick of the action.  The film "Le Mans" came out in 1971 and achieved cult status; and in 2019 the Ford-Ferrari duel inspired the  movie "Le Mans 66".  Another Hollywood actor (heart throb!) Paul Newman actually drove in the 24 hours race, finished second overall and won his group. Sadly there was no photo of him!

In extras is another heart throb who goes by the name of Jack Kitten. I took this just before we left my sister this morning. He's decided soft sofas and chairs are very comfy!
