Wicken Fen Wind Pump

A beautiful day out at Wicken Fen, National Nature Reserve, one of Britain's oldest. Norman's Mill, now restored and moved to the Boardwalk, is the last operational wooden wind pump in the Fens. It was used to drain the turf pits to keep the peat diggings dry. There is such a lot to see there that I shall return with my grandchildren to follow the Nature Trail and take a boat trip through the wet grasslands.
