Bass Regatta Week

Well! After missing all the gentle breeze days of the first part of the week through work I was looking forward to some pleasant sailing on the last Friday and Saturday. It was not to be. Overnight, the weather changed for the worse with gusting winds, rain squalls and white horses churning up the lake. The sound of wind screeching through rigging and the harsh flail of sails was deafening as we  launched for the first  Friday race and the little hulls lurched and twisted with the forces of air and water. Definitely  'why am I putting myself through this?' moments. Despite this, I was amazed to make a good start but there my skills and strength ended. Flattened, multiply capsized and with burgee drowned at the bottom of the lake I wobbled my way back to shore. And you know what, the re-play on Saturday was even worse! Uggh!
