Angelica

Angelica sylvestris
A common plant of wet woodlands and with the recent weeks of soaking weather there's a bumper growth of it this year along all the forest road verges. Each plant is a metre high or more with purple stems and fleshy leaf bracts, rich green leaves and these chandelier umbels of intricate flowers. They have beauty both in their architectural form and in their detail. How amazing to have Angels in such profusion standing in our woods!
