Sunnies Sunflower Field
This morning G and I went to photograph the sunflowers at Sunnies Sunflower Field not far from Holt. It's a family run farm and they're dipping their toes into a new venture this year of having a sunflower field. As such, they are only open this bank holiday weekend. A nice set up with mown field edges for walking around, some benches for sitting on, you could buy sunflowers and you could also give a donation to save the sunflower for seeds for the birds. Also you could buy a Pointens Dairy ice cream - another family venture - I couldn't refuse and had a gorgeous mint choc chip cornet. The family were very friendly and welcoming, and happy to answer our questions. They originally planned to open for August, but the local newspaper reported that the flowers didn't meet their high standards, so shelved the idea. Then mid-August they felt they wanted to share the joy of the sunflowers anyway, so opened for the bank holiday weekend only. Whilst a number of the flowers have gone over or heads bowed, there were plenty of smaller flowers and I managed to photograph a number of larger flowers too, you can see 9 of my photos in a collage in extras. I do hope they decide to continue with the venture, G and I thoroughly enjoyed walking round with our cameras, a field of sunflowers can't help bringing a smile to one's face and all for just £2 to cover their costs. Btw, can you see a face in the middle photo in my collage?
