Day 1 Mayia, Kiotari Rhodes

We woke in beautiful Rhodes and raced to see the view from.our balcony in daylight after arriving last night. We are 3 floors higher than last year but directly above our last room and in a corner room again so that we have views on 2 sides which is what I really wanted.  When walking to breakfast, we could see the view looking towards Kiotari and were shocked at how close the recent fires got to our hotel - see extra.  Some of the palm trees are singed, as are the electricity poles. That wall is the boundary wall and further down there are damaged trees next to unburnt ones. Total respect to the firefighters and all who helped.
We spent our first day in and around the hotel swimming, doing aquanoodles, eating and walking. We're so glad that we've been able to return here as it is a beautiful place.
