Different point of view
Higher and higher I drifted - until, climbing higher than the bridge, I recognised the section of well on top of it.
It was where I'd had the odd feeling when I'd walked past it with Kate - incredibly, only a short time earlier in the day. So much had happened since that it seemed a lifetime ago.
The shock of making the connection between the two hit me hard - though the meaning behind that connection still remained out of reach.
The thing about this vantage point, where my feet were floating just above the wall, was that it gave you a viewpoint on two worlds that were unknown to each other: from under the bridge you couldn't see the road - and from the road - as I'd found earlier - you wouldn't know the bridge was there.
