Premonition?

A bit of graffiti in central Manchester that turned out to foretell our journey home. Our direct train was cancelled but the ticket office (let's not get rid of them please) gave us instructions on our alternative. Took an earlier stopping train to Preston where we joined the crowds trying to get on a train to Edinburgh. It was soon packed and the doors closed as it had reached capacity. It then waited for more than half an hour as they tried to fix a problem. We joked that they would announce that we would all need to get off again, maybe only after those on the platform and got on the next train heading north. It did finally set off but as we approached Penrith the guard announced it would be terminating at Lockerbie and Edinburgh passengers should get off at Carlisle and get on the Euston to Edinburgh train instead. There were at least more seats even if it was still crammed. We finally got into Waverley about 6:30 pm - actually a bit under an hour later than our original arrival time but way more stressful. Still, we got there in the end, and did hop straight onto a 26 for the last leg of our journey, so not all bad!
