Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Hard luck, those Lionesses, but today, the better team won.

Modern puzzle: They're nicknamed 'Lionesses' - the female form of 'Lion', but it's not acceptable nowadays to call female actors 'actresses'. WHY??

Today, as it was nice and sunny, we decided to go up the hill. I haven't been there for ages. We drove up to the carpark, and Archie cried with excitement when he realised where we were. He always used to do that when we came there regularly. I used to make him wait in the car until he'd stopped barking hysterically.

It was quite busy, with lots of people and dogs. JR and Archie then walked on down the hill and through the Hermitage, mainly to give Archie a drink in the river, but also it's a lovely walk. I came back home in the car - that was enough for me.

I watched the athletics for much of the afternoon, I like all the events, but especially the track events.

I asked JR for the photo that she took here, thinking it would be good to add as an extra, but she admitted that she was only 'pretending'. Don't tell Arch!
