ROKER PIER

Quite a bend in the pier here . . . view just opposite our hotel . . . built where the old footie ground used to be.
I have to say the Route 1 Cycle Route has some grand scenery . . . just a pity that many of the signs are missing. Slow start for me . . . Sunderland to Middlesbrough. Extras show an old railway footbridge, railway long gone, but our route cycles right through here . . . and the footbridge spanning the border between Durham and Teesside.
The smell of home tempered by a huge puncture 2 miles from The Riverside . . . a walk for me whilst T ploughed on as he still had 12 miles to go to his overnight stop. 41 miles was enough for me . . .
