Willow Gentian

There weren’t many flowers around during the conservation day at Taveyanne today so this one stood out.

Today was the annual Journée des Vernes which is organised to cut down the many alder bushes that are growing in the Taveyanne nature reserve. A big group turned up to help this year, including my son, and we were able to have a big impact. It was fun working alongside like minded people and everyone worked at their own level. Luckily, most of it was in the shade as it was very hot today. We were then all invited to the local farm for a meal of soup, bread, cheese, meats and delicious tarts, their way of saying thank you. We also had a ten minute talk from a local on the birds found in the area; very interesting.
