GLADIOLUS

Backblipped

We had a lovely evening yesterday at Betulla's (pronounced Be chew lla's apparently).  You definitely need to book as it was really busy.  It was hot in there too.

We arrived a little too early, so had a walk up to the statues of Laurel & Hardy (see extras) as it was such a lovely evening.  We could tell that we don't go out in the evening very often as Ulverston seemed very noisy to us.  It was only because it was a pleasant evening and the noise from the few restaurants and wine bars etc were loud.  It was nice in a way too as it had an air of vibrancy about it.

We were allocated table 11 as it was a bit quieter and I had requested that.  Unfortunately it felt like being in a corridor because it was right by the place where the staff  had to return the dishes and customers had to visit the facilities, so we had a lot of people going past us, but it was a little quieter.

The food was very good but the portions of the pasta dishes are HUGE.  Too big really as it then means there was waste, by me anyway.

We started off with a sharing platter of antipasti between the 3 of us, all very nice but again a large portion.  Then Hubby had the home-made  lasagne served with mini garlic bread, I had the Milano Bettulla (chicken, bacon, onion & mushrooms served with penne in a creamy white wine sauce & baked in our pizza oven).

Hubby had the home-made Lasagne and I had Milano Betulla, Milano Betulla, (chicken, bacon, onion & mushrooms served with penne in a creamy white wine sauce & baked in their pizza oven).  Both delicious but way too big.  To be honest each of those dishes could have served at least two, maybe even three.  I personally would have like to have had half the portion with a side salad.  Garron was sensible and had one of their delicious pizzas, which was a decent size and he loved it.

I would recommend it but would suggest having the pizza simply because of the size of the pasta portions.

Excellent and attentive service, even though they were extremely busy.  They have a happy hour between 5 and 6 with selected items at £10.95 so good value, which is why it was so busy still at 7.00pm.

We arrived home at 9.15 - I know late night for us these days!!!

For some reason all day to day I was really tired as if I'd been out really late  weird really.  So I had a quiet day.

That's all for today, do take care and stay safe.

This is my entry for Flower Friday, with grateful thanks to BikerBear for hosting.
