A bleak day
For some reason we slept in this morning, so were a tad late starting our day. We decided to get our walk in before lunch so rugged up, as the wind was very cold, and set off. We came across a gallery and antique shop and were pressing our noses up against the windows trying to see what was inside when the owner came out and said “We do have a door, you know. Come in out of the cold it’s warm inside”. We duly entered the premises and started looking around. There were two wonderful matching pieces in the window, but they were too expensive. Then we spotted two side tables, the owner gave us a good deal on them and duly delivered them late this afternoon. They’ll look good in the third bedroom. We proceeded to the Star and Garter restaurant to confirm a booking for Tuesday, then walked to Mitre10 to purchase a couple of small items. Our next call was at the Countdown supermarket to buy a tin of extra virgin olive oil. Our shopping for the day completed we set off on the homeward journey. After a light lunch of cheese, crackers and an apple MrMacD went downstairs to put up another light fitting and I did some housework that I’ve been neglecting over the last week or so. After a supper concocted from leftovers we settled down to watch the match between Australia and Sweden for third place in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. It was an exciting match and Sweden played an excellent game, so sadly Australia lost. The final score was Sweden 2 - 0 Australia.
We walked past two gardens with Aeonium Zwartkop plants blooming. In one the flowers were better than the leaves and in the other the leaves were better than the flowers, so I’ve included both.
