The conservatory…
…at Max Gate, Thomas Hardy’s married home and an addition requested by his first wife Emma. A beautiful room, and a very interesting visit to the house this afternoon. Thomas, having trained as an architect but much preferring to write, built this home to his own specification, sufficiently far enough away from his mother who had stated than she wished none of her children to marry….Our guide was wonderful; knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and what a difference that makes!
This morning we visited Dorchester market. A great place to browse and move on from, but very well used. Much has changed in the area since our last visit.
Home made spag bol for dinner tonight. I laid the table. Valerie & Neil came back after blood tests etc in Yeovil. We watched Captain Corelli’s Mandolin from the collection of DVDs here.
