And the time is ......

Arrived in Ankara late last night.

Someone should have been at the airport to take me to the hotel but they didn't show up so it was a taxi. The driver spoke little English and I know little Turkish so it was a quiet journey. The driver relieved the tedium of it all by criss crossing over lanes and exploring how near he could get to other cars without actually touching them. He also grunted a lot at the collections of folk on the streets looking to demonstrate.

There were noises into the night of civil disgruntlement. Folks here think it will fizzle out at the weekend but have suggested I stay in the hotel this evening. Seems like a good suggestion to me. Given that the chanting for the night has started and the helicopter is circling.
