Margaret

18.2C blue sky, warm, light breeze.

The workmen continue to dig their way along the pavement. Fortunately they are moving away from our house and as they go their noise and the to and fro of their vehicles recedes. The new street lights have had the tops put on the posts.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk before lunch. We passed by the church and noticed that the painters have finished the window frames and are now painting the doors. On the bridle path the grasses and other vegetation is approaching waist height and only a narrow footway is left free. I hope it gets mowed before any rain comes.

The tides was out a bit. The beach was completely empty. Maeve and I took plenty of time to wander along. At the Fishermen's huts we noticed that the end hut has had a board fixed to the front advertising crab, lobster, and cod fillet. I'm sure there will be mackerel later in the summer. There is even a website (www.valhallafish.co.uk) and phone number. Local fresh fish. Very enterprising.

Back down on the beach we wandered along the water's edge and took some pictures of the boats. I liked this one of 'Margaret'. Just beyond her are the dingies belonging to 'Valhalla VI' and 'Shamara II' which were out at sea.

'Valhalla VI' came back as we were standing there, slowly approaching the dingies at the mouth of the channel through the rocks. Maeve and I went up and sat on one of the benches by the car park and watched as the boat was moored out in the channel and the fisherman boarded the dingy with his catch and rowed into shore. He brought the dingy to the edge of the water then went up to the back of the beach for the tractor so he could take the dingy and the catch back up to his hut for unloading.

Happy that we had seen all the action, Maeve and I headed off back over the railway line and made our way home.

Note: I use the Misc. folder of my Blipfolio for any extra pictures I might be lucky enough to have and think are good enough to post on any given day. If you have come along later than the day of posting the pictures in the Misc. folder may not be the ones you expect to see from the text on that day's blip ... hopefully you will still enjoy the picture(s) you see there :-)
