Even this Fisherman was noisy
15.8C and grey. Tiny breeze.
Apothecary7's day off. The digging of trenches in the pavements for the new street lighting continues. Slowly. Noisily. They seem to take lots of long breaks.
We went to M&S in Dundee. Goodies were required.
On the way home we stopped in Broughty Ferry. We parked near the castle and had a walk. Maeve the Deeround trundled along behind.
At the end of one of the piers this chap was sitting fishing. Not one for peace and quiet though. He had a radio, and it was very loud. Local station. Tay AM. We heard. Clearly. I wouldn't be surprised if the fish could hear it too.
We left him to it.
When we got home the workmen were at lunch. We took Maeve for a walk. Country road, bridle path, beach, and back home. Then we had lunch.
This afternoon the workmen have dug along the pavement outside our house and across the end of our driveway. There have been trucks and digging machines, numerous men, and two women. The women came in a car. One of the women had a plan. There may be hope.
When the women left some of the men dug out soil with shovels where the machine had finished, some stood and watched, one used a small machine to pack the backfill, and one seemed to like kicking the purple bendy pipe the cables go through.
The trench has been backfilled to the new lighting pole beyond our neighbour's driveway. Almost. Driving in and out of our driveways will not be bump free until they decide to come along with the final layer of surfacing. Oh joy !
At least tomorrow they will be moving away from our house as they dig their way along the pavement. Their noisy noise will gradually fade :-)
Update: On a lighter note, this evening I planted some Nicotiana and some Sweet Peas (with a cane and twine support). The Sweet Peas are a scented mix. I look forward to little bunches of colour and delightful scent in a few weeks :-)
