Capturing my Journey

Mountain view.

We had pancakes and coffee with our friends in the cabin and decided to leave a day early to give us plenty of time to get home. We wanted to travel up highway 40 which is a gravel road winding through the mountains so slower than taking the main route home. We stocked up on a few supplies and fuel and headed for the road. Took a wee stop to air down and stretch the dogs legs before driving into the mountains. Unfortunately it was super hazy again so the views weren't as clear as they could be. What an interesting road going up and down with switchbacks and lots of views partly hidden by the trees. I didn't take many pictures from the gravel road as there wasn't clear viewing but enjoyed seeing the vast expanses of wilderness. We dropped onto the main highway for a section and husband thought he had scouted a place to sleep for the night but it had all changed it felt distinctly like Alberta doesn't want people wild camping or using free recreational sites they were all pay for and really it felt quite unwelcoming and very negative so we thought we would stop and feed the dogs and push on further north.

Where we stopped not long after being out a thunderstorm approached so we abandoned feeding the dogs and decided to drive on again. The rain was super heavy for a time turning the track into a river but we came out the other side and eventually found somewhere to camp for the night. Not quite the day we expected and we were super tired so after feeding ourselves and the dogs we headed to bed.
